YOLRED Uganda Hosts Music Therapy Program Event

On December 12, YOLRED, our global partner in Northern Uganda hosted a community gathering attended by several hundred people in the Gulu area to showcase its new music therapy program, as well as mark the end not only to 2017 but an incredibly active and momentous inaugural year in operation.

Preventing Violent Extremism Program Expands to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda

Former Child Soldiers in Uganda lead ESPERE Reconciliation Workshops

Rape Accountability and Prevention Platform launches in Haiti’s displacement camps

March 12, 2010
Since the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, women and girls living in the internally displaced persons camps face alarming rates of rape and other forms of gender-based violence. In response, the Goldin Institute partnered KOFAVIV, FAVILEK, the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) and its network of partners throughout Haiti to build and support a women-led, community based security platform in the displacement camps.

In particular, Ms. Kabir highlights the face that many microcredit borrowers end up taking multiple loans and find themselves trapped in debt and unable to repay.

Community Based Oral Testimony Uncovers Microcredit Concerns

A community research team comprised of villagers from a village in Northern Bangladesh, conducted dozens of interviews with their neighbors about their experiences with microcredit. Using this approach, we heard what people had to say about microcredit on their own terms and shattered many myths about microcredit.

Institute Offers Course on Reintegration and Prevention
